Leckenby Complete design and project management service

Issey Miyake – 33 Brook Street, Mayfair

Having worked with Issey Miyake London in 2014 on the launch of their flagship store at no.10 Brook Street, the Issey team asked us to work with them on their new exciting project.
Their existing office and Pleats Please store at no.20 Brook Street was to relocate to a new larger store at no.33 Brook Street and they asked us to Project Manage both the full fit out of the new 6 storey building as well as the relocation from no. 20 once complete.

This impressive new 6 storey building, which greets you as you walk down South Molton Street, from Bond Street station, consists of 3 retail floors (lower ground, ground and 1st floors) and offices, Press showroom & retail BoH over the 3 floors above.

Designed by Tokujin Yoshioka, in black and white tones with a 10m cutting-edge triangular steel powder coated hanger rail, which displays clothes as if they were floating in mid-air.

The minimal space is spread across three floors and combines the spirit of ISSEY MIYAKE’s making things with modern architectural design.

A Bateig blue limestone staircase is the core that links the basement, ground and first floor. Floors are also made in bespoke cut Bateig blue limestone tiles, with mirrored walls and floating glass shelves – A space that creates a contrast between a historic building and modern design.

Brands include:
PLEATS PLEASE ISSEY MIYAKE
HOMME PLISSE ISSEY MIYAKE
BAO BAO ISSEY MIYAKE

The staircase and the retail areas are separated by fire rated glass partitions in bespoke powder coated framework.

The bespoke powder coat finish can be seen throughout the retail floors both internally and externally (it's the blackest Green known to Man with a wrinkle finish).

DDA facilities have been beautifully integrated into the design on the lower ground floor to increase access for all and a goods lift has been installed to serve the stockroom on the upper floors.

A new low iron glazed shop front to the ground and first floors in the bespoke powder coated framework allows light to flood into the store creating a stunning view of the Issey Miyake clothing and bag collections.

Leckenby lead the client’s construction team to ensure that the vision was implemented.

The store was officially launch on the 7th June with an intimate party. The store design was met with great acclaim from renowned architects, social media influencer’s, along with fashion and design magazines.
