Leckenby Complete design and project management service

John Varvatos

2014 continues to be an exciting year for Leckenby Associates Ltd… we have stepped into the world of rock ‘n’ roll with John Varvatos.

We were asked to Project Manage the fit-out of this 10,000 sq.ft. flagship store back in June 2013. The store is their first European flagship store, located at 12-13 Conduit Street, London.
Our initial involvement was to help manage the landlords development of the shell build, which was leading to JV's access date and shop fit commencement. The landlord was/still are redeveloping the whole seven storey building of which JV has taken three.

This exciting store spans across three floors with each floor providing a different customer/retail experience. This is the first JV store that brings together both their NY Bowery and Madison concept stores – this includes:

The dark and edgy 'Bowery' basement with its black walls and flooring, exposed ceilings with a hint of crackle glazed red, a vintage vinyl room, full gig stage set, vintage electrical guitar walls and rock memorabilia mixed together with men's fashion and accessories.

The ground floor features a much lighter feel with white painted brickwork walls and beautiful oak herringbone floor with a rock gallery collection, vintage furniture and a feature staircase to the first floor. The staircase was our most challenging to date. This completed bespoke organic design developed as the project progressed with the structural constraints arising from the main building development. We worked very closely with the full team to reach a stunning end result, which really is a focal point the minute you enter the store.

The first floor is a tailors fashion experience, which clean lines of black and white, mixed with beautifully detailed vintage pieces, including a unique mirror ceiling feature, floor cut through to ground floor with drop lighting and an in-house tailors shop.

Throughout the project we liaised with the Landlord, his developers, property agents, solicitors and the City of Westminster to gain all required approvals, also lead the full construction team through to the store handover and its first day of trade, as the store opened on Friday 1st August. This was followed by an amazing launch party, one we will never forget….just like a Hollywood movie Premier, the street was closed, black carpet laid the full length of the street, the paps were out in force to shoot all the celebs (including Ringo Starr, Paul Weller, Jimmy Paige, Iggy Pop to mention a few), they served great cocktails and topped the night by having a full gig in the basement with The Hives, which totally rocked! #peacerocks

We definitely recommend a visit to this store and we hope London loves this store as much as we do.
